Chelsea ready to offer Mikel Obi new contract

John Mikel Obi may be in line for a new Chelsea contract, following a string of impressive display under Guus Hiddink.

The Nigerian midfielder was marginalized by former boss, Jose Mourinho, who preferred to use Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic as his midfield base.

However, Hiddink has made Mikel Obi a key member of his team set up since he was appointed as interim manager, following Mourinho’s dismissal last December.

The 28-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge 10 years ago and has 15 months left on his current deal.

He has been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, but might end up extending his stay at the club if the Blues powerbrokers choose to extend his contract.
